ABOUT
KENYA
The
Republic of Kenya is a country in East
Africa and lies on the equator. Kenya
has Indian Ocean to its south-east,
bordered Uganda to the west, Tanzania
lying south, South Sudan to the north-west,
Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to
the north-east. With a land area of
580,000 km2 and a population about 45
million residents, Kenya is named after
Mount Kenya, a major attraction and
the second among Africa's highest mountain
peaks. Its capital city is Nairobi.
Kenya is a focus of all adventure tours
in Africa. It’s among the finest
and unquestionably the most eminent
safari destinations in Africa. Safari,
however, is by no means the only reason
to visit Kenya, for the attractions
of its rich culture and diverse environments
are considerable. Attractions in Kenya
range from national parks, mountains,
lakes, beaches and towns.
Well-known for its classic savanna safaris,
Kenya is a country of spectacular extremes
and classic contrasts. Deserts and alpine
snows; forests and open plains; the
metropolis of Nairobi and colorful tribal
cultures; freshwater lakes and coral
reefs. The wildlife safaris have been
the top tourist attractions in Kenya
for decades while other activities include
game viewing in the national parks and
game reserves, trekking Mount Kenya,
ballooning over the Masai Mara and snorkeling
in Malindi on the Indian Ocean coast.
Below are some of the major safari and
nature activities that one can do in
Kenya.
